Moray Carshare are hoping their electric bike hire scheme can encourage people to travel more sustainably and stay fit and active.

Through their Low-carbon expansion of car & bike sharing in Moray project, the social enterprise are keen to see more people to get out on bikes to benefit the environment and improve their mental and physical health.

Funded by Moray LEADER and HiTRANS, the project has already made a positive contribution to the local community, by assisting other local organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both the Phoenix Store at The Park and The Bakehouse Cafe in Findhorn have made use of the E-bikes to make home deliveries to people is self-isolation.

Gordon McAlpine, of Moray Carshare advised that, "we currently have a fleet of 17 cars and 12 electric bikes and over 200 members, operating mostly in Kinloss, Forres and Findhorn. We are encouraging people to exercise and do active travel and we are trying to make it affordable, as the project isn’t about making money. It is all about getting people more active."

The project has already successfully seen an old garage shop at The Park ecovillage in Findhorn refurbished to store four of the new E-bikes. Visit to find out more about the scheme.
