Funding for tourism-related projects now “very limited”

Moray LEADER have highlighted that high demand for support for tourism-related projects means that funding for this kind of project is now very limited and only “exceptionally strong” applications will succeed.

Norman MacAskill, Moray LEADER Programme Manager said:

“Moray LEADER has a budget of around £3 million to support projects which contribute to achieving the six Objectives of the Moray Local Development Strategy.

“However, demand for funding under Objective 3, which relates to tourism, has been very high. As a consequence, most of the funding earmarked for this Objective has now been allocated to several excellent projects that will contribute to the continuing growth of tourism in Moray.

"As a consequence, the Local Action Group have decided that, for the remainder of the programme, applications related to tourism will have to be exceptionally strong if they are to succeed.

“In particular, applications are more likely to be approved if they cover more than one of our strategic objectives and show strong evidence of collaboration, strategic impact and long-term legacy."
