    Thorabella have been awarded funding for a farm diversification project to develop a micro business by establishing a new portable farm shop to sell produce from the farm direct to customers. 

    Thorabella is a family run farm in Dallas which breeds and rears water buffalo, sheep, pigs and goats and. The portable farm shop will supply the surrounding local community on a weekly basis with home grown produce and other locally sourced meat and seasonal products, such as honey, fruit, veg, pressed juices, jams, and eggs. The innovative project helps address the Moray Local Development Strategy Objective to build stronger local supply chains for Moray food, farm and game products.

    The LEADER funding will support the purchase of:

    • Dual-purpose fridge/freezer van to serve as the Portable Farm Shop
    • Shepherds Hut to serve as an on-farm shop and storage space, housing a fridge and freezer for storing produce
    • Promotional materials and brand development, including the design of a new website to market the new business
